We've got your trade!

The apprenticeship program involves a practical component, generally offered in the workplace by an employer (sponsor) and a theoretical component, usually given by a community college. The person who is following this type of program is called an apprentice. They learn a specialized trade while getting paid. An apprenticeship program can last 2 to 5 years. Once the apprentice has successfully completed the practical and theoretical training, they receive a Certificate of Apprenticeship from the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development. For trades that require it, the apprentice also receives a Certificate of Qualification.

Additionally, apprentices who complete their apprenticeship program at Boréal may qualify for an Ontario College Certificate (OCC)! OCC details

Steps to register for an apprenticeship program:

  • Find an employer (sponsor) prepared to supervise your hours of practical training
  • Once you have confirmed a sponsor, apply here: Skilled Trades Ontario Portal
  • Register with Boréal’s Apprenticeship Office
