Credit transfer and advanced placement
Are you currently pursuing post-secondary studies at Collège Boréal and have taken one or more courses at another institution?
What is a credit transfer?
At Collège Boréal, a credit transfer is official recognition of one or more courses taken at another post-secondary institution or in another program. Credit transfers let you skip over courses you’ve already completed. There are several ways you can do this:
- Equivalency: Recognition of an equivalent course taken in another Collège Boréal program
- Credit transfer: Recognition of credits for one or more courses taken at another post-secondary institution
- Advanced placement (formerly “bulk credit transfer”): Recognition of credit for a group of courses taken at another institution, so that you can start a Collège Boréal program at a more advanced level
Credit transfer process

Check eligibility in advance
- Make sure you have been admitted to a Collège Boréal program
- Review the program syllabi to check whether there is any overlap with courses you’ve already taken.

Submit your application
Fill out the credit transfer form
Attach the required documents, including:
- Your official transcript
- A detailed syllabus for each course

Pay the fees
Be sure to pay the application fee before the deadline listed in the academic calendar, in accordance with the terms listed.

Review and assessment
Your application will first be reviewed to confirm that you are eligible, then assessed using the credit transfer process criteria.

Final decision
The decision is emailed or uploaded to the student portal. It explains which credits have been awarded and how they will affect your studies.
