A Bachelor’s degree in England for graduates of Collège Boréal’s Fitness and Health Promotion program

28 October 2019
A number of Collège Boréal graduates will soon have the option of continuing their studies overseas.

Collège Boréal and Hartpury University in England (United Kingdom) presented Monday, October 28, 2019, an articulation agreement that allows graduates of Boréal’s Fitness and Health Promotion program to move directly to the third year of a bachelor’s program at Hartpury University.

The agreement allows students to choose between several specializations offered on campus at Hartbury University: Physical Education, Exercise Sciences, Nutrition, Sports Therapy, Coaching Science, Sports Business Management and Sports Coaching; or a general curriculum made up of individual courses in any of these areas. After one year of studies, the graduates receive a B. Sc. Honours degree in Sports Performance, which could allow them to access various postsecondary programs in Canada, such as a bachelor’s degree in education.

The agreement between Hartpury University and Collège Boréal is part of a strategy aimed at increasing articulation opportunities between college and university programs. Many universities in Ontario and Canada now recognize college level learning and offer pathways to a bachelor’s degree for Collège Boréal students. However, this is Collège Boréal’s first international articulation agreement.

The agreement will come into effect at the start of the 2020 academic year for students who obtain their diploma at the end of the 2019-2020 academic year.

Articulation agreements between college and university programs meet our student’s increasing needs for flexibility. In a rapidly evolving job market that breaks down traditional barriers between technical and theoretical skills, these agreements help to train well-rounded professionals who are ready to adapt to the careers of the future. I thank Hartpury University for the confidence they have placed in our programs.
Hartpury University, in England, provides an exciting opportunity for graduates of specific Ontario Diploma programmes to achieve a Bachelor’s degree in just one further year of study. Having initially partnered with a handful of colleges closer to Toronto, we have seen this pathway grow in popularity and now wish to make it more widely available to Ontario students. Apart from the academic opportunity, which is supported by significant investment in leading-edge sports science facilities, students will also benefit from the life experience of a year living and studying in the UK.
