Bridging Program for Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs)
Ontario colleges are launching new courses designed for Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) seeking to become Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) and Registered Nurses (RNs) in the province. The development of these theoretical, online courses has been funded by the Government of Ontario as part of the Nursing Program Renewal Initiative, which aims to provide flexible learning options for employed IENs.

Program Overview
Ontario colleges are offering new skill-upgrading courses for Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) wishing to qualify as Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) and Registered Nurses (RNs) in Ontario. All theoretical courses will be delivered online.
These courses have been funded by the Government of Ontario through the Nursing Program Renewal Initiative at Ontario colleges and are designed to provide flexible learning opportunities for working IENs.
These courses are intended for IENs whose education has been assessed by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and who have received written notification indicating that additional training is required. The letter from the CNO outlines the specific competencies to be addressed. The courses are designed to target these competencies and provide an efficient means of meeting the CNO’s education requirements.
