CSC Nouvelon and Collège Boréal partner to support special education
The event brought together nearly 60 Kindergarten to Grade 12 students in special education classes from Ste-Marie (Azilda), Félix-Ricard (Sudbury) and Jean-Paul II (Val Caron) Catholic elementary schools, École secondaire catholique l’Horizon (Val Caron), and Collège Notre-Dame (Sudbury). Faculty and students from Collège Boréal’s Child and Youth Care program (TESQ) also took part.
Throughout the day, TESQ students led a variety of adapted activities and craft stations for students. The event closed with a musical performance by Rodney Meilleur, CSC Nouvelon’s cultural identity facilitator.
The partnership is designed to help students in CSC Nouvelon’s special education classes build social and practical skills through a positive experience alongside the next generation of Francophone professionals in the field. It also gives TESQ students at Collège Boréal an opportunity to put their learning into practice, gain hands-on experience, and build meaningful connections with young people with special educational needs.
