A well-deserved celebration in Kapuskasing!

25 May 2022
After two years of virtual graduation ceremonies, the graduates of Collège Boréal in Kapuskasing were finally able to celebrate the end of their college journey together, in person.

The graduates were all smiles as they received their diplomas from President Daniel Giroux, who was visibly pleased to be able to present them in person. This ceremony was also an opportunity to present scholarships from local organizations and businesses worth over $3,000.

A look back at two very emotional years

The honour of representing the Kapuskasing 2022 cohort went to Brielle Deschamps, a graduate of the Business Administration Techniques program, who did not miss the opportunity to recall how the pandemic has radically changed college life over the past two years. The good news, she said, “is that nothing has stopped us from continuing and we can finally celebrate our success!” she said, clearly happy to finally have her diploma in hand.

Governor General’s Academic Medal

The Governor General’s Academic Medal, awarded to a full-time student who has achieved the highest grade point average in a two-year degree program, was awarded this year to Gabriella Varagnolo, a graduate of the Child Care Education program in Windsor.

I am particularly proud and moved to be handing diplomas today to a cohort that has overcome the enormous challenges brought on by the pandemic. The 2022 graduates are, without question, the embodiment of the perseverance and talent of an entire generation. Their courage and ability to adapt to change will undoubtedly serve them well on the job market and in whatever path they choose to take.
I would first like to congratulate our graduates who are receiving their well-deserved diploma or certificate. Graduation is one of the most important events of the year for me. As Campus Director and as a Francophone and resident of our beautiful region, it is a great pleasure for me to share the pride of this remarkable achievement.
