Since 2004, Collège Boréal has been offering training programs and immigration services, including settlement and integration services, as well as employment-related training programs and services, language assessments, language courses, and transition training programs to help individuals enter the workforce.

Integration services

Our specialists offer orientation, information, and support services to help you adapt to Canadian life. These bilingual services are offered free of charge and include:

  • Support according to your immediate needs
  • Assistance with filling out administrative documents
  • Support in finding affordable housing
  • Help navigate the health care system and social assistance services
  • Information about schools and daycares
  • Orientation and referral to community and local services
  • Interpretation services
  • Workshops and information sessions
  • Practical advice to meet your daily and essential needs

Eligibility criteria:

  • Be a permanent resident, a protected person, a Convention refugee, a naturalized citizen, approved provincial nominee, asylum seeker, temporary foreign worker, foreign student, Ukrainian temporary resident, or a person under the care of a Ukrainian temporary resident
  • Live in Ontario

                 

Job-related programs and services

Employment-related programs and services provide internationally trained professionals with specialized training, professional integration support, as well as internships and work experiences in Canada, particularly in the fields of supply chain management and financial services. Complementary services, such as employment consulting, career exploration, and language training (ELT), help eligible newcomers in Ontario adapt to the Canadian job market.

Language courses in French and English

Collège Boréal offers free French and English courses for newcomers to Canada, tailored to personal and professional needs. These programs, including CLIC, LINC, FLAP, OSLT, ELT, and adapted versions, help improve language skills while promoting social and professional integration in Ontario.

Language instruction for newcomers to Canada (LINC)

These English courses cover Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) levels 0 to 7. The levels offered, delivery method, and course schedules vary by region.

This free program will allow you to:

  • Increase your confidence while learning English to live, study, and work in Canada
  • Improve your listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills with the help of a qualified teacher
  • Receive support from a specialized tutor who will assist you in progressing towards your learning goals
  • Receive individualized advice to set goals to enhance your education or consolidate your career
  • Learn with a goal in mind and set yourself up for success

Eligibility criteria:

  • Be a permanent resident, a protected person or a Convention refugee, a Ukrainian temporary resident or a person under the care of a Ukrainian temporary resident
  • Live in Ontario
  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have a valid proof of Canadian Language Benchmark levels assessment

Cours de langue pour les immigrants au Canada (CLIC)
These French courses cover Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) levels 0 to 7. The levels offered, delivery method, and course schedule vary by region.

This free program will allow you to:

  • Learn French with a qualified teacher and discover the Francophone culture of Canada in an immersive environment
  • Increase your confidence while improving your listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills
  • Receive support from a specialized tutor who will help you in your progression towards achieving your learning goals
  • Learn with a specific objective in mind and set yourself up for success

Eligibility criteria:

  • Be a permanent resident, a protected person, or a Convention refugee, a Ukrainian temporary resident or a person under the care of a Ukrainian temporary resident
  • Live in Ontario
  • Be 18 years old or older
  • Have a valid proof of Canadian Language Benchmark levels assessment

Occupational Language Training (FLAP)

This practical and innovative French course will help you:

  • Understand the workplace culture of a specific profession or field
  • Interact clearly and effectively with colleagues, clients, supervisors, and the public
  • Develop strong communication skills for job interviews, networking, and career advancement
Collège Boréal offers the FLAP course, “Working With Children and Youth”

Eligibility criteria:

  • Be a permanent resident, a protected person, or a Convention refugee, a Ukrainian temporary resident or a person in the care of a Ukrainian temporary resident
  • Live in Ontario
  • Have work experience, education or international training in the field
  • Have an intermediate level of language skills NCLC +5 in French

 

 

Occupation-Specific Language Training (OSLT)

This practical and innovative English course will help you to:

  • Understand the workplace culture of a specific profession or field
  • Interact clearly and effectively with colleagues, clients, supervisors, and the public
  • Develop strong communication skills for job interviews, networking, and career advancement

Collège Boréal offers the following OSLT courses:

  • Accessing the Technology Job Market in Ontario
  • Entrepreneurship, Sales and Marketing
  • Health Care
  • Managing Workplace Interactions
  • Professional Managers

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Be a permanent resident, a protected person a convention refugee, a Ukrainian temporary resident or a person under the care of a Ukrainian temporary resident
  • Live in Ontario
  • Have work experience, education, or international training in the field
  • Have an intermediate level of English language skills

 

 

Enhanced Language Training (ELT)

This free program will allow you to:

  • Develop your workplace communication skills
  • Benefit from tools and advice to find new job opportunities
  • Gain a Canadian work experience through a 5-week placement

Eligibility criteria:

  • Be a permanent resident, protected person, or refugee as defined by the Convention, a Ukrainian temporary resident, or a person dependent on a Ukrainian temporary resident
  • Live in Ontario
  • Have work, education, or international training experience in the field
  • Have an intermediate level of NCLC 6+ language proficiency in English

 

Adapted Language Courses for Immigrants to Canada (Adapted CLIC) and Adapted Language Instruction for newcomers to Canada (Adapted LINC)
Are you unable to attend French or English classes due to personal obligations or geographical constraints?

This flexible and free program will allow you to:

  • Improve your listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in French or English
  • Take courses ranging from Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) levels 3 to 6, according to your schedule
  • Receive support from a specialized tutor
  • Have your Canadian Language Benchmark levels evaluated remotely for placement in the program with the Language Competency Assessment Centre (Adapted LINC-Adapted CLIC)

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Be a permanent resident, a protected person, a Convention refugee, a Ukrainian temporary resident, or a person under the care of a Ukrainian temporary resident
  • Live in Ontario
  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have a minimum NCLC 2 level in French or English

 

Language assessment centres

Test of French Evaluation (TEF Canada)

The Test d’évaluation de français (TEF) is an internationally recognized exam developed by the Paris Île-de-France Chamber of Commerce that measures knowledge and proficiency in French. The TEF Canada is recognized by the IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) for individuals who wish to obtain certification of their French language proficiency for immigration or Canadian citizenship applications.

Canadien English Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP)

The Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) is an English language test. The CELPIP is recognized by the federal government for immigration procedures such as obtaining permanent residence or Canadian citizenship. The exam is also recognized by professional associations, post-secondary institutions, and employers for career and education purposes.

Language Skills Assessment Centre (Adapted LINC-CLIC adapté)

Our language assessors certified by the Centre for Canadian Language Benchmarks offer language assessments in English and French for placement in the Adapted LINC-CLIC adapté program.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Be a permanent resident, a protected person, or a Convention refugee, a Ukrainian temporary resident, or a person under the care of a Ukrainian temporary resident
  • Live in Ontario
  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have a minimum level of NCLC 2 in French or English
