Research & Innovation Boréal: Applied research to support innovation
At the unveiling of its 2020-2025 Strategic Plan at its main campus in Sudbury, on Monday, March 9, 2020, Collège Boréal also inaugurated Research & Innovation Boréal (RIB), its new center of applied research for innovation.
Applied research projects are increasingly important at Collège Boréal and going forward, Research & Innovation Boréal will become the hub for research projects and initiatives.
Research & Innovation Boréal provides support to innovation projects in businesses and community organizations through research partnerships that draw upon the expertise of Boréal teachers and the talents of Boréal students.
Innovate to prosper
The range of expertise offered by Research & Innovation Boréal reflects and strengthens the college’s traditional fields of expertise. Some of the projects currently underway are in areas such as agricultural sciences, new agri-food technologies, biodiversity protection and health in general. Other projects deal with wider societal issues such as immigration, the Francophone community, Indigenous communities or early childhood education.
The research themes are always evolving. Focusing on priorities identified in collaboration with its partners, Research & Innovation Boréal responds to current and emerging challenges faced by clients in their development and modernization goals.
A mission that reflects Collège Boréal’s new directions
Introduced alongside the 2020-2025 Strategic Plan, Research & Innovation Boréal is consistent with the key strategic directions established by Collège Boréal for the next five years. By making its expertise in applied research available to the communities it serves, Collège Boréal contributes to their economic vitality and sustainable development.
Applied research is also a valuable educational resource for the college. It provides opportunities to confront the challenges that businesses face in adapting programs to realities in the field, while offering students with meaningful experiential learning opportunities, allowing them to collaborate directly with employers, and to develop skills and competencies to meet the needs of the future workplace.
Collège Boréal looks forward to developing new applied research projects under the direction and leadership of Research & Innovation Boréal.
