Record-high student enrolment at Collège Boréal in 2024
In its 30th year, Collège Boréal now serves over 2,300 students across its campuses in Hearst, Kapuskasing, Nipissing, Ottawa, Timmins, Toronto, Sudbury, and Windsor. These students, hailing from 34 countries worldwide, benefit from a unique, personalized experience that combines post-secondary education, learning, and college life.
Boréal’s growing popularity
Over the past two years, applications to Boréal’s post-secondary programs have surged by more than 80%, from 2,956 in 2022 to 5,380 in 2024. This increase, partly driven by interest from French-speaking students in Africa, also reflects the enthusiasm of domestic students. Boréal is the only college in Ontario to have seen a three-year consecutive increase in domestic applications, most of whom come from Ontario, with a rise over 50% since 2022.
Modern infrastructure across the province
New facilities saw the return of students to Northern Ontario, notably with the complete overhaul of the West Nipissing and Kapuskasing campuses. New classrooms, laboratories, lounges, and meeting spaces have been added to better serve students and the surrounding community.
The Sudbury campus saw major upgrades over the summer, including the opening of the Carrefour de la réussite, a new one-stop shop located in the resource centre of the main building. This fall, Collège Boréal’s First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Education Centre will inaugurate the “Heart of Fire” Shkode Pavilion, located at the entrance to the trades building.
Last year also marked the opening of the new Collège Boréal campus in Toronto, situated in the heart of the historic Distillery District. In the coming months, the Ottawa campus will also undergo significant renovations, with completion expected by spring 2025.
