Grand opening of Carrefour du Nord-Est in Kapuskasing
The Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l’Ontario (CSPNE) and Collège Boréal proudly celebrated the official opening of the Carrefour du Nord-Est in Kapuskasing earlier today.
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries from the school board and the post-secondary institution, along with staff from both entities, numerous VIPs, and community partners. It was a special one for the school community and beyond, highlighting the longstanding collaboration between the CSPNE and Collège Boréal.
Located in the heart of Kapuskasing, the Carrefour du Nord-Est will serve as the cornerstone of the city’s educational and employment services. Thanks to this renovation project, the two entities will offer comprehensive services through the Centre d’apprentissage du Nord-Est de l’Ontario (CANO), the CSPNE administrative point of service, the employment centre and Collège Boréal. Together, these four groups will make a tangible contribution to collective sustainability.
Yves Laliberté, Director of Education at CSPNE, expressed his delight in celebrating the completion of this project for the well-being and success of the Kapuskasing community. “The partnership that has existed between the CSPNE, Collège Boréal and the community for several decades has been strengthened by the achievement of this fine construction project. This project has indeed been an idea for a long time, but today, we’re here to celebrate the grand opening of your Carrefour. As Trustee Lucie Paquin mentioned at the official opening, we absolutely must acknowledge the important contributions of the Ontario Ministry of Education and the Government of Canada, which demonstrate how important French-language education is to the Franco-Ontarian vitality of Northern Ontario, by investing in this major collective project in Kapuskasing.”
As lead partner, Collège Boréal President Daniel Giroux also expressed enthusiasm for this addition to the Kapuskasing community, highlighting the many benefits the Carrefour du Nord-Est now offers, a true one-stop shop for the entire Kapuskasing population. “Thanks to its completely renovated facilities, Collège Boréal’s Kapuskasing campus is more than ever an attractive choice for northern students seeking high-quality post-secondary education close to home. Our longstanding partnership with the Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l’Ontario and our wide range of programs and services will strengthen the French-language continuum from the early years of schooling to successful entry into the job market.
The Carrefour du Nord-Est project underscores the importance and value of collaboration in creating a modern, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment conducive to social, cultural, and community development for the region’s students.
