In collaboration with the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon, Collège Boréal introduced Grade 7 students to the many career opportunities available in the trades.

Défis métiers—or “trades challenges”—is an immersive activity that gives participants the chance to explore a wide range of trades while discovering the programs offered at Collège Boréal. Through interactive workshops at the Sudbury campus, students took on hands-on challenges related to various professional fields. They assembled an electrical circuit, connected piping, practised their aesthetic skills, demonstrated their forestry knowledge, and much more. This experiential approach gave them a taste of the essential skills and knowledge required in the skilled trades.

This enriching experience was both educational and fun. By showcasing the diversity of specialized programs in our high schools and the career opportunities in the skilled trades, we hope to spark students’ curiosity. Experiential learning and the success of this initiative were in full force today!
We’re pleased to have worked with our partners at Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon to offer their students a unique opportunity to reflect on their professional future. Career opportunities in the trades are plentiful and can be particularly rewarding in our high-demand regions.
