Collège Boréal’s Veterinary Care Technician program certification restored
15 June 2021
Collège Boréal is pleased to announce the restitution of its accreditation with the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians for its Veterinary care technician program at its Sudbury and Ottawa campuses. Therefore, approvals are reinstated for a period of two (2) years, until March 2023.
This decision by the OAVT’s board of directors follows an appeal process initiated by Collège Boréal last month.
This great news allows all graduates of the program, including those who graduated this year, to write the American Association of Veterinary State Boards’ VTNE certification exam.
In its decision, the OAVT concluded that exceptional health measures and restrictions stemming from the Covid-19 pandemic have had significant effects on the Veterinary care technician program. The OAVT also recognized the continued effort on the part of Collège Boréal through its quality assurance processes to improve its program, an initiative that was also disrupted by the pandemic.
This is great news for our students of the Veterinary Care Technician program, particularly for this year’s graduates. The OAVT thus acknowledges the quality of our program and the skills of our graduates who are about to enter the job market. Our priority is always the quality of teaching and we will continue deliver on that promise.
I am very pleased by this renewed confidence in our Veterinary Care Technician program. I would like to thank everyone on the team for their hard work and great commitment in promoting the quality of this program. I am also appreciative to the OAVT for the dialogue we’ve established and have confidence in our ability to continue to collaborate closely.
