Greater Sudbury-wide collaboration propels students from Boréal and its education partners to the top of the podium.

A delegation from Greater Sudbury stood out at the 2025 Skills Ontario Competition, held May 5–6 at the Toronto Congress Centre. Sponsored by Manitoulin Transport, the Sudbury team—made up of students from Collège Boréal, Cambrian College, Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon, Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord, Rainbow District School Board, and Sudbury Catholic District School Board—joined Ontario’s top talents in this prestigious showcase of technical and skilled trades.

For the first time, seven Collège Boréal students, sponsored by Technica Mining, demonstrated their skills in heavy equipment, welding, aesthetics, and architectural technology. Nearly all placed in the top 10 of their respective fields, with a bronze medal awarded in welding.

Alongside the main competition, the 26th Annual Skills Ontario Young Women’s Conference featured Collège Boréal graduate Chloé Arsenault—from the Civil and Mining Construction Engineering Technician program—as keynote speaker. She shared her experience as a woman in the trades with more than 400 young francophone women. She was joined by Kristen Vane, a panelist and competitor in Boréal’s Architectural Technology program.

Participants proudly represented their institutions, showcasing their talent and dedication. Collège Boréal and its partners on Team North warmly congratulate all participants for their outstanding performance and commitment to excellence.
