Collège Boréal offers 10 French as a second language courses for health care professionals to help students communicate more effectively in French in the context of health care. Participants take part in a variety of exercises designed to improve their abilities in oral and written communication.

This course allows health care professionals to expand their language abilities in order to communicate more effectively in French in the health care sector. This course is adapted to the student’s health care practice. Its objectives for oral and written language and comprehension allow the student to acquire and apply the terminology used by health care professionals, read, understand and correctly pronounce simple vocabulary, write simple documents and sustain short and simple conversations.
This course allows health care professionals to expand their French language abilities in the health care context by using various verb tenses such as perfect and imperfect and pronominal verbs, polite forms of address and courtesy, and to maintain client/patient records. This course is adapted to the student’s health care practice. Students will be able to acquire and use the terminology employed by health care professionals, discuss current and past activities, compare their projects using the future tense and write short paragraphs.
This course allows health care professionals to expand their linguistic abilities in French in the health care context by using various verb tenses with greater ease. Students will be able to formulate hypotheses in the present tense, discuss everyday work in more detail and report a person’s condition. Students will also be able to use the terminology employed by health care professionals at the intermediate 3 level. This course is adapted to the student’s health care practice.
This course allows health care professionals to expand their linguistic abilities in French in the health care context by using pronominal verbs, pronominal verbs with idiomatic meanings, and perfect, present conditional and irregular verbs. Students will be able to use the terminology employed by health care professionals at the intermediate 4 level. This course is adapted to the student’s health care practice.
This course allows health care professionals to expand their linguistic abilities in French in the health care context by using pronominal verbs, pronominal verbs with idiomatic meanings, and perfect, present conditional and irregular verbs. Students will be able to use the terminology employed by health care professionals at the intermediate 5 level. This course is adapted to the student’s health care practice.
This course is adapted to the student’s health care practice and allows health care professionals to expand their linguistic abilities in French in the health care context by using indefinite pronouns, possessive pronouns, direct and indirect object pronouns, pronoun position, as well as the past conditional and past perfect verb tenses. Students will be able to use the terminology employed by health care professionals at the advanced 1 level orally and in writing.
This course is adapted to the student’s health care practice and allows health care professionals to expand their linguistic abilities in French in the health care context by conjugating verbs followed by prepositions before the infinitive, the future perfect, and irregular verbs. Students will learn the use of indefinite adjectives, expressions that indicate logical relations, present participles, conjunctions, and negation adverbs and phrases. Students will be able to provide more detailed explanations and recount events in proper chronological order (verb tenses). Students will participate in conversations on all topics using more complex sentence structures and will be able to use the terminology employed by health care professionals at the advanced 2 level orally and in writing.
This course is adapted to the student’s health care practice and allows health care professionals to expand their linguistic abilities in French in the health care context by conjugating regular and irregular subjunctive verbs. Students will learn the use of the subjunctive after verbs, verbal phrases, impersonal phrases and conjunctions. Students will acquire the tools required to express themselves with ease and will be able to discuss various aspects of their topics concretely or abstractly. They will be able to provide detailed explanations and will master complex structures. Students will be able to use the terminology employed by health care professionals at the advanced 3 level orally and in writing.
This course is adapted to the student’s health care practice and allows health care professionals to expand their linguistic abilities in French in the health care context by conjugating verbs followed by an infinitive or an adjective, using the past perfect and past subjunctive, and verbs ending in “oir”, “er” and “ir” in the modes, tenses and forms they have learned. Students will learn the use of passive voice, indefinite pronouns, past infinitive and indirect discourse. They will provide detailed explanations and master complex structures and will be able to use the terminology employed by health care professionals at the advanced level 4 orally and in writing.
This course is adapted to the student’s health care practice and allows health care professionals to expand their linguistic abilities in French in the health care context by conjugating all verbs in all modes, tenses and forms. This course is based on the needs of students who wish to improve their written and oral French at work and in everyday life. Students will provide more detailed explanations and master complex structures. Some errors may remain in sentence structures but they do not hinder communication. Students will be able to use the terminology employed by health care professionals at the advanced level 5 orally and in writing.
