Collège Boréal’s Early Childhood Leadership and Governance program trains competent leaders in the early childhood field, focusing on developing management, pedagogical leadership, and governance skills to run early childhood education programs effectively. It develops expertise in human resources management, strategic planning, and an understanding of public policies relating to early childhood, paving the way for management positions in early childhood education institutions.

This continuing education program consisting of three part-time courses allows professionals in the field to develop skills to ensure the effective functioning of an organization, while considering the close links between the organizational governance structure, strategic planning and legislative framework, all highlighting programs and services that align with the vision of the Early Learning and Child Care Framework.
Program Courses
In this course, students will learn to differentiate between various forms of governance, i.e., non-profits, private businesses and public institutions. The course will also help students better understand the roles and responsibilities of board members, leadership, program managers and educators. Students will also learn to develop a strategic plan and draft a range of reports.
In this course, students will examine various aspects of effective financial management, planning and monitoring in early childhood education services to ensure their longevity. Students will learn about the processes and tools needed for financial planning, financial resource management, financial statement interpretation and financial monitoring. Students will also learn about the technical and legal framework required for proper financial and physical resource management.
In this course, students will learn about legislative frameworks for early childhood education service operations. Students will learn to identify, read, interpret and apply laws and regulations related to various programs and services, such as the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 and health and safety regulations. Students will develop their skills in drafting, amending and implementing policies and procedures to comply with various legal and regulatory requirements.
