Social Services Worker

In this program, which meets the occupational requirements related to the scope and standards of practice in social services, students learn to become social service workers. According to the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), the scope of practice of social service work includes the assessment, treatment and evaluation of individual, interpersonal and societal problems using social service work knowledge, skills, interventions, and strategies, to assist individuals, dyads, families, groups, organizations and communities to achieve optimum social functioning.

Full Description

In this program, which meets the occupational requirements related to the scope and standards of practice in social services, students learn to become social service workers. According to the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), the scope of practice of social service work includes the assessment, treatment and evaluation of individual, interpersonal and societal problems using social service work knowledge, skills, interventions, and strategies, to assist individuals, dyads, families, groups, organizations and communities to achieve optimum social functioning. The program encourages students to examine their personal values and beliefs and to bring balance to their occupational and personal life to better represent the occupation of social services worker. This program is offered in person in four semesters or online (via Boréal en ligne) in six semesters.
